- New Solution Delivers nGenius Views of New High Bandwidth Technology -

WESTFORD, Mass., Aug. 12 -- NetScout Systems (Nasdaq: NTCT) today announced the industry's first solution for monitoring Gigabit EtherChannel(TM) networks. The new nGenius(TM) Gigabit Ethernet Aggregation Probe allows IT managers the ability to monitor these critical network segments with complete visibility into both the network and applications. It supports NetScout's recently-announced Common Data Model (CDM) initiative by seamlessly integrating performance data collected from Gigabit EtherChannel segments with other management information delivered by the nGenius system, in a common and consistent format.

Gigabit EtherChannel is new technology that provides the high bandwidth necessary to meet the demands of today's computing needs. Typical Gigabit EtherChannel configurations combine four or eight Gigabit Ethernet segments into a single, logical multi-gigabit link between two switches. This "single link" allows enterprises to increase bandwidth in the core for optimizing the delivery of applications. The new nGenius Gigabit Ethernet Aggregation Probe was specifically designed to provide seven layer monitoring and troubleshooting support for this critical new part of the network. A unique link aggregation feature of the solution provides an accurate view of how traffic and applications pass through Gigabit EtherChannel circuits while retaining the ability to manage each physical connection. Flexible configurations are available to support either four (4) or eight (8) channel circuits.

Siemens Networks Systems Limited (SNSL), a principal channel partner of NetScout's in the United Kingdom, has fulfilled multiple orders of the new nGenius Gigabit Ethernet Aggregation Probe to a large financial customer in the UK. "The nGenius Gigabit Ethernet Aggregation Probe enables customers to monitor traffic flows at an efficient point within the network," said Tony Reeve, product manager, network management for SNSL. "By deploying nGenius probes, customers improve their capabilities for troubleshooting and capacity planning. This, in turn, increases their success in maintaining appropriate service levels across the network. We are pleased to see NetScout continue its record of extending nGenius to cover critical new technologies such as Gigabit EtherChannel from a single, integrated solution."

"The large volumes of mission critical traffic being delivered across these links creates a priority for managing their performance," said Michael Szabados, senior vice president, product operations for NetScout. "Given the complexity of the core Gigabit network, the ability to monitor both the network and the applications with common and consistent information is essential to assuring effective delivery of network services across the enterprise."
