China Telecom Deploys NETSCOUT Solution to Manage City of Guangzhou's Metropolitan Area Network

Telecom Company Uses nGenius to Monitor Network and Applications; Assure Quality of Service

WESTFORD, Mass., June 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NetScout Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTCT), a leading provider of network performance management solutions, today announced that Guangdong Telecom Corporation's Guangzhou Branch, also known as Guangzhou Telecom, has purchased NetScout's nGenius(R) Performance Management System to manage the performance of the metropolitan area network (MAN) that provides the city of Guangzhou's broadband services. Guangdong Telecom Corporation is a subsidiary of China Telecom.

The city of Guangzhou has the largest of Guangdong Telecom's broadband networks. In 2002, demand for its Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) network services grew by 200%, while demand for its high-speed VPN business services grew by 40%. As a result of this rapid expansion, Guangzhou Telecom saw an urgent need to expand its proactive performance management capabilities to assure the satisfaction of customers and the effective management of its expanded network.
