Eight-Port Solution Offers Cost-Effective, Flexible Performance Management for
Applications Flowing Between HQ Data Centers and Multiple Remote Sites
WESTFORD, Mass., Nov. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NetScout Systems, Inc.
(Nasdaq: NTCT), a leading provider of enterprise-wide network and application
performance management products and solutions, today announced the market's
first eight-port monitoring solution for T1/E1 wide area networks with the
nGenius(R) Eight-Port T1/E1 Probe. The new probe allows enterprises to cost-
effectively monitor and manage the performance of applications in lower speed
WAN segments where performance and cost containment are top requirements.
"T1/E1 circuits are used extensively by enterprises to connect their
corporate data centers with remote offices, customers, partners and vendors,"
said Michael Szabados, senior vice president of product operations for
NetScout Systems. "These segments often carry critical CRM, ordering and
supply chain transactions, and will increasingly be a prime conduit for IP
voice and video. This probe covers up to eight T1/E1 trunks, reconciles
traffic between redundant trunks, and breaks out applications delivered within
each of the T1's virtual circuits that allocate bandwidth across multiple
locations. Customers can fully and proactively manage application and network
performance for dozens of remote sites using this probe."
Supporting the IT needs of multiple remote sites can be challenging due to
network complexity. A T1/E1 line will often be allocated across multiple
sites through the use of virtual circuits. Each virtual circuit is designated
by specific DLCI, or packet identifier, that directs traffic through the
public infrastructure instead of a single, dedicated line. In order to
understand the networking requirements of individual remote sites, IT managers
need to be able to monitor the volume and responsiveness of applications
associated with each DLCI. NetScout's nGenius(R) Solution discovers and
tracks all types of activity occurring with each DLCI. Traffic can then be
analyzed by the individual DLCI or against the whole trunk. In addition,
applications that are load balanced across multiple links can be reconciled
within a single view or report to support faster problem resolution and better
planning. The ability to display and report on the utilization and
performance of aggregate or separate WAN links is extremely valuable for
evaluating and justifying the benefits of redundant circuits.
All nGenius(R) Probes offer high performance, real-time monitoring of all
types of standard, Web-based and complex applications. Application flow
statistics are presented in both physical and logical business views of
network activity and in the context of other key technologies deployed such as
VPNs and QoS to simplify decision making. nGenius Probes are an integral
component of the nGenius(R) Performance Management System, which collects and
unifies information collected from across the enterprise to address the six
key performance management disciplines of application monitoring, network
monitoring, capacity planning, troubleshooting, fault prevention and service
level management. All NetScout products are based on NetScout's patent-
pending CDM(TM) Technology that enables consistent enterprise-wide
utilization, response time and availability metrics within a single, fully-
integrated solution.
