Workgroup Version Improves Accessibility and Flexibility of NetScout's Performance Management Solutions

WESTFORD, Mass., Sept 26, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- NetScout Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTCT), a leading provider of network and application performance management solutions, today broadened its High Definition Performance Management (HDPM) offerings with the introduction of a new Workgroup version of its flagship nGenius Performance Manager software. The new nGenius Performance Manager Workgroup provides the same, fully integrated application and network performance management capabilities as the Enterprise edition of nGenius Performance Manager, scaled down to a smaller number of managed elements. This new configuration offers easier initial accessibility to the nGenius Solution via a lower price, as well as new flexibility for large deployments seeking to leverage the nGenius Solution's distributed architecture and capabilities.

The nGenius Performance Manager Workgroup brings the benefits of HDPM to enterprises and government agencies in scaled down software or appliance versions to address three specific areas of need:

Distributed management in large multi-site nGenius Solution deployments. The Workgroup version allows IT operators to expand their performance management strategies globally or nationally to meet the needs of today's distributed network architectures. These needs include 'follow-the-sun' network management where operations staffs around the world assume control of performance management during their business hours. Additionally, the new Workgroup version allows IT operators to apply performance management tools cost-effectively in regional offices, which frequently have fewer critical network or application elements to monitor.

Organizations that recognize the value of integrated network and application performance management for specific high-value sites, but don't require an enterprise-scale deployment. Nearly all businesses and agencies are increasingly dependent on their networked applications, however many concentrate their most business-critical resources in central locations. With nGenius Performance Manager Workgroup as a low-cost, fully functional solution, they can protect the performance of those critical network and application assets on a focused basis. As their performance management needs expand, NetScout offers a graceful license upgrade to accommodate expanding deployments.

Performance management for early-stage or small ongoing Voice over IP (VoIP) deployments. As more organizations add voice communication services to their IP networks, the need to see and understand all network activity and the performance of their critical networked applications increases. Together with nGenius Probes, nGenius Performance Manager provides a cost-effective solution to manage voice and data application performance throughout the three key stages of convergence: pre-deployment network assessment and application profiling, impact analysis during deployment, and ongoing post-deployment monitoring of the converged environment. The Workgroup version allows companies to implement these important management functions for their initial VoIP deployments and then gracefully grow as the VoIP implementation expands.

"The release of nGenius Performance Manager Workgroup gives our customers multiple deployment options to match their operations and management tools priorities with the scope of their infrastructure and budget," said Tim Bedard, senior product manager, NetScout Systems. "Additionally, our larger customers can now expand their application performance monitoring across their national and global networks with greater ease."

Pricing, Availability and Configuration

nGenius Performance Manager Workgroup is currently available as licensed software for Windows and Solaris platforms, starting at $20K. For fast and convenient deployment, nGenius Performance Manager Workgroup is also available pre-loaded on a security-hardened, performance-optimized Windows or Linux- based server appliance, starting at $30K.
