NETSCOUT Systems Announces Mercury Validation; NetScout Receives Validation for Integration of nGenius Solution with Mercury Business Availability Center

09 May 2006

WESTFORD, Mass. & MELBOURNE, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 2006--From Mercury World Australia, NetScout Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTCT), a leading provider of application and network performance management solutions, today announced that the integration between its nGenius(R) Performance Manager and Mercury Business Availability Center(TM) has been validated by Mercury Interactive Corporation, the global leader in business technology optimization (BTO). NetScout also joined the Mercury Alliance Program at the Premier level.

The seamless integration of NetScout's nGenius(R) Performance Management System with Mercury Business Availability Center gives customers a single, business-oriented console for consolidated network, server and application performance management mapped directly to their critical business services. This allows for tighter control of critical business processes, with flow-based High Definition network performance information that only NetScout can deliver, along with the correlation of infrastructure performance and end-user experience from Mercury. Specifically, the integration provides the benefits of:

  • Real-time network-based performance information such as bandwidth utilization by application, top talkers, NetFlow statistics, network errors and VoIP details from the nGenius Solution displayed in the Mercury Business Availability Center dashboard;
  • "At-a-glance" correlation between the end-user experience, the systems and the network infrastructure in the Mercury Business Availability Center console and top views, enabling quick diagnosis of a problem's cause for effective triage between groups; and
  • The launch of context-sensitive views in nGenius Performance Manager from Mercury Business Availability Center, for in-depth analysis of application performance from the network vantage point.

Integrating NetScout's nGenius Performance Manager with Mercury Business Availability Center is simple and requires no code changes. The integration is based on a new integration module built into Mercury SiteScope(R) and also includes explicit instructions for implementing the context-sensitive launch and customizing the Mercury Business Availability Center dashboard to reflect network performance.

"With this integration capability, jointly developed by NetScout and Mercury, our enterprise customers can improve the management, discovery and diagnosis of problems in the network infrastructure supporting business critical applications," said Bruce Sweet, vice president of business development at NetScout. "Our alliance with Mercury is part of NetScout's execution on our recently announced Application Fabric Performance Management strategy, which includes integrating our rich, network-based performance intelligence into industry-leading BSM solutions to advance the state of the art for enterprise IT operations."

"NetScout's nGenius Performance Management Solution is an example of the kind of business technology optimization tool that works well with Mercury's Business Availability Center. A combined NetScout and Mercury solution enables both deep visibility and enterprise-wide coverage to help customers manage the performance of their business processes," said Rod Lehman, senior director, alliances marketing at Mercury. "By bringing in a network vantage point to Mercury's Business Availability Center dashboard, this complementary solution minimizes finger pointing between server, network and application management teams and provides for faster isolation and triage of performance issues."

NetScout will be exhibiting at Mercury World Australia, from May 10-12 at the Crown Promenade Hotel in Melbourne, Australia. At the event, John Breeding, senior systems engineer at NetScout, will present "Optimize Application Performance, Enhancing Mercury Business Availability Center with a Network Perspective," on Friday, May 12 at 1:35 p.m. The presentation will highlight how NetScout and Mercury work together to extend the Mercury Business Availability Center dashboard for enterprise application management.
