Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics and Lowell General Hospital benefit from year-end donations totaling $100,000

WESTFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 2009--NetScout Systems today announced that is has made year-end donations totaling $100,000, with the monies allocated to three organizations: Lowell General Hospital, a 200-bed hospital serving the community in which NetScout is headquartered; the Special Olympics; and Habitat for Humanity.

NetScout gave $10,000 to sponsor Lowell General Hospital's tenth annual TeamWalk for CancerCare. Through sponsorships such as NetScout's, the hospital has access to funds which provide the little things that make a big difference to cancer patients and their families including prescription medication not covered by insurance, transportation to and from treatment, and support groups for patients and their families.

NetScout gifted $20,000 to the Special Olympics Northern California, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people eight years of age and older with developmental disabilities, and the remaining $70,000 to Habitat for Humanity, a global home-building movement comprising more than 2,000 local affiliates, state support organizations and national organizations in more than 90 countries. Throughout the world, the cost of houses varies from as little as $800 in some developing countries to an average of nearly $60,000 in the United States.

NetScout has supported both the Special Olympics and Habitat for Humanity in recent history but this is the most substantial commitment the company has made to date. NetScout intends to work with the charities to ensure the funds impact the communities in which NetScout operates. With its corporate headquarters in Westford, Massachusetts, NetScout also has major sales, marketing and R&D facilities in San Jose, California; Plano, Texas; American Fork, Utah; and Pune and Bangalore, India.

In announcing the donations, Vic Becker, vice president, human resources for NetScout Systems, noted the substantial corporate milestones NetScout achieved in 2008.

"In 2008, we celebrated the first anniversary of our acquisition of Network General and fully integrated our product suite," said Becker. "We hosted our largest user forum ever--with 62 percent more attendees than the year before. The editors at Fortune Small Business named us one of the 100 fastest-growing small public companies in the U.S. based upon three-year annualized rates of revenue growth, EPS growth, and total return to investors. For NetScout, 2008 was an excellent year."

"As the economy resets itself, corporations are rethinking their budgets for good works," Becker continued. "When we here at NetScout reflected on 2008 and looked ahead to 2009, we felt compelled to substantially increase our commitment to the communities that have allowed our business to thrive. It was simply the right thing to do."

"With more than 1.6 billion people in need of affordable housing around the world, Habitat for Humanity's work can only be accomplished with help from community supporters," said Scott Anderson, Habitat for Humanity International's senior director of Corporate Programs. "We are truly grateful to receive the support of NetScout in our goal to eliminate poverty housing."
