WESTFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr. 27, 2009--
NetScout
Systems today announced that IDC, a leading provider of global IT
research and advice, recently released a report titled “Worldwide
Network Performance and Operations Management 2009-2013 Forecast and
2008 Vendor Shares,”1 in which NetScout is ranked as the top
vendor in the market segment with a 14 percent market share position for
calendar year 2008.
The IDC report, published in April 2009, identifies NetScout as
ascending into the top-tier of the performance and operations management
market segment. “In 2008, NetScout broke ranks and through the
acquisition of Network General moved into the top 5 with the big system
IT vendors in terms of revenue earnings. It is important to note that
this does not mean that NetScout is displacing system IT vendors but
rather that its segment of the market is growing at a faster rate than
the system IT vendors. Its solution is a complementary one, and it has a
tight relationship with other tech vendors such as HP and IBM.”
“Companies need to do more with less and that means fewer staff,” said
Abner Germanow, director, enterprise networking at IDC. “IT departments
must improve their effectiveness and that is being reflected in strong
growth among vendors offering greater visibility into networking
performance and troubleshooting. Additionally, these tools provide
information that can then be shared across IT organizations, which in
turn improves overall operational efficiency.”
The IDC report further highlights: “While performance management and
optimization have been all the buzz, it really comes down to
understanding and managing IP traffic over the network. That means
better understanding of what is running on the network… deep packet
inspection (DPI), and analytics are no longer nice to have but an
integral part of networking solutions moving forward.”
“Our vision and strategy continues to be focused on meeting IT’s need to
more effectively assure service delivery in the rapidly transforming IP
network environment,” said Steven Shalita, vice president, marketing for
NetScout Systems. “The company’s acquisition of Network General and
subsequent technology integration has been a key part of our strategy to
extend our product portfolio and its value to IT by leveraging the
strengths of two market leading companies. Our execution of this
strategy has enabled us to deliver compelling solutions that position us
as a strategic vendor, which is reflected in IDC’s recently released
market data.”
