Focused Professional Services for TIC and STIG Specifications Assure Compliance While Accelerating Time-to-Value for Deployments

WESTFORD, Mass., Jun 02, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --NetScout(R) Systems, Inc., today announced two new Professional Service offerings specifically designed to help U.S. Federal Government agencies meet implementation requirements that are defined by the Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) and the Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) specifications when deploying the nGenius(R) Service Assurance Solution. The NetScout Trusted Internet Connection Service offering and the NetScout Certification and Accreditation Assistance Service offering provide experienced and trained consulting expertise that can ease the internal staffing, expertise and time-to-deployment challenges for Federal Agencies to comply with stringent security regulations before deployment.

In response to the increasing number and severity of cyber attacks on Federal networks, there are a number of Federal initiatives and requirements that must be met for all network connected equipment to ensure manageability and optimize the security of all internal and external connections and transactions. These various requirements involve stringent compliance activities that create a burden on Federal IT staff from an implementation standpoint. These new Professional Service offerings are designed to help Federal Agencies access resources that are knowledgeable of the mandated requirements as well as the capabilities of the selected solution and technology to enable accelerated deployment that assist in meeting these various compliance frameworks.

The new NetScout TIC Service offering augments the nGenius Service Assurance Solution, including the nGenius InfiniStream(R) appliance and nGenius Performance Manager, with Professional Services designed to help streamline installation, configuration and tuning of the overall deployment. With this service, NetScout Consultants work with Federal IT staff to design an optimized data and metric archiving approach and meet connection limitation requirements to enable a TIC compliant implementation. This will assist Government Agencies to record and securely store packet-flow data moving across their network and through Internet connections to perform post-event forensic analysis for security and service degradation incidents.

The NetScout Certification and Accreditation Assistance Service is intended to help Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Military branches "security harden" nGenius Service Assurance Solution deployments to meet stringent STIG certification requirements for use in Federal Government networks. Achieving compliance can be a complex, labor-intensive process that takes IT personnel away from their core duties, which can delay implementation or have other operational implications. Expert NetScout Consultants trained on DITSCAP and DIACAP government security requirements provide review, remediation, and documentation support to help Agencies achieve STIG certification on their deployed NetScout solutions. The NetScout Certification and Accreditation Assistance Service mitigates the administrative burden of readying the nGenius Service Assurance Solution for Federal Agency deployment, enabling IT teams to concentrate on their primary mission of assuring service delivery of critical government network services.

"These new NetScout Professional Service offerings help ease the operational burden of achieving TIC and STIG compliance for the nGenius Service Assurance Solution deployed in Federal Government environments," said Steven Shalita, vice president of marketing, NetScout. "In addition, our focused one-on-one consulting approach facilitates better critical knowledge transfer allowing our customers to develop new skills and expertise in the course of performing their usual duties. This enables Federal IT teams to concentrate on their primary mission of assuring service delivery of critical network services to government users and protecting the integrity of their IT systems."

Deployed by a broad number of government agencies, including all four branches of the U.S. Military, the nGenius Service Assurance Solution enables government organizations to achieve unified, end-to-end visibility of service delivery to optimize the IT service delivery environment for peak operating efficiencies, protect the user experience, deliver consistent and reliable service levels by predicting and preventing performance issues, and simplify the management of complex, high-performance environments.
