Network Computing Magazine Recognizes NetScout and Two NetScout Technology Innovations at Annual Awards Event

WESTFORD, Mass., Mar 17, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- NetScout(R) Systems, Inc. today announced that it was awarded "Datacenter Product of the Year" in the fourth annual awards program sponsored by Network Computing, the UK's longest established publication dedicated to networking technologies. The nGenius(R) Virtual Agent earned "Datacenter Product of the Year", the nGenius InfiniStream(R) 2900 Series intelligent Deep Packet Capture appliance was named runner-up for "Service Management Product of the Year", and, NetScout was awarded runner-up for "Company of the Year". In 2009, Network Computing readers selected the nGenius Performance Manager platform as "Testing and Monitoring Product of the Year".

The Network Computing Awards were designed to recognize outstanding and innovative products, services and companies as voted by the readers of Network Computing magazine. On-line nominations determined a short-list of finalists in each category, and on-line voting by readers ultimately determined the winners. Around 7,000 individuals cast a total of more than 20,000 votes. In addition to the awards that were decided by readers, four categories were judged by the editor of Network Computing to recognize outstanding work and innovative products and services. The Network Computing readership awards underscore NetScout technology innovation and leadership for unified service delivery management. In April 2009, IDC ranked NetScout as the market leader in an April 2009 report "Worldwide Network Performance and Operations Management 2009-2013 Forecast and 2008 Vendor Shares".

"With today's pervasive service delivery challenges, IT personnel require more granular real-time and historical visibility into the service delivery environment to optimize performance, predict and prevent performance issues, and speed the problem resolution process," said Steven Shalita, vice president, marketing for NetScout Systems. "We are honored that IT professionals are recognizing our newest products as effectively helping them address the challenges they have been facing in managing service delivery. We continue to focus on technology innovation and to evolve our portfolio to enable more visibility in more places to allow organizations to achieve end-to-end service delivery management."

nGenius Virtual Agent

As a virtualized implementation of the company's widely deployed nGenius Probe technology, the nGenius Virtual Agent seamlessly extends high-performance packet-flow monitoring and analysis capabilities deeper into the datacenter and private clouds -- enabling the IT organization to regain true end-to-end visibility of application traffic from within virtual servers. The nGenius Virtual Agent connects to the hypervisor's virtual switch to reveal all application transactions within or across virtual servers. The nGenius Virtual Agent software automatically discovers all applications and their interdependencies within, and external to, the virtual server providing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), intelligent anomaly detection and comprehensive performance metrics. With the Virtual Agent deployed, the nGenius Service Assurance Solution will identify application movement between servers from a network perspective. The Virtual Agent automatically discovers new or moved applications within a virtual server enabling network staff to instantaneously know which applications have moved, enabling them to predict and address sudden changes in network traffic patterns.

nGenius InfiniStream 2900 Series

The nGenius InfiniStream 2900 Series appliance, designed and purpose-built for deployment in areas where there are cost and space constraints, extends intelligent Deep Packet Capture capabilities to more network places enabling deeper application visibility. Featuring a compact 1RU form-factor with half a terabyte of storage capacity, the nGenius InfiniStream 2900 Series appliance enables InfiniStream technology to be deployed more affordably in areas closer to the user, including mid-tier distribution points, wiring closets, larger branch offices, and remote data centers. Whether used in a standalone mode or as part of the end-to-end, always-on nGenius Service Assurance Solution, the nGenius InfiniStream 2900 Series appliance reliably stores all network traffic providing statistical information about application performance, network usage and related traffic patterns. Network managers can access rich packet information in real-time or perform comprehensive historical forensic analysis of events to maintain peak performance of the service delivery environment and dramatically speed the diagnosis and resolution of performance issues to prevent service delivery degradations or downtime.
