nGenius Service Assurance Solution Certified for the Department of Defense Unified Capabilities Approved Products List and Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 3

WESTFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2012-- NetScout® Systems, Inc. today announced that the nGenius® Service Assurance Solution has been certified by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for the Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (UC APL), and approved by the National Information Assurance Partner (NIAP) as Common Criteria certified at Evaluation Assurance Level 3 (EAL 3+). These certifications validate that the nGenius Service Assurance Solution meets the rigorous testing and technical requirements for interoperability and security mandated by the DoD, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and National Security Agency. NetScout provides the U.S. Federal Government and associated civilian agencies with an approved, interoperable and secure service assurance platform for the purpose of predicting and preventing application, network and unified communications performance issues or failures.

Today, government agencies are focused on streamlining and transforming IT into more efficient and more easily managed environments. To accomplish this, agencies are turning to IT solutions that will help simplify managing and assuring their IT environments as well as reduce costs. The nGenius Service Assurance Solution supports these objectives by delivering real-time, relevant and contextual insight into network, application and unified communications performance across a constantly changing IT infrastructure. The nGenius solution enables the implementation of a unified service delivery management strategy that provides situational awareness and preemptive response, helps IT organizations optimize the availability and performance of delivered services, protects the user experience and simplifies IT operations. The nGenius solution extends visibility to more places in the network with a common data set of service-oriented analysis and reporting functionality that promotes IT collaboration with team-oriented workflows.

“For administrators adhering to high security and interoperability standards, Common Criteria and UC APL certifications instill confidence, reduce risks and eliminate the cost of validating products that have already met the certification standards,” said Skip Liesegang, vice president, government channels division, immixGroup, a recognized leader in the public sector technology marketplace.

Certified to Assure Services for U.S. Military and Civilian Agencies

The UC APL certification creates and maintains a single consolidated list of products that have successfully completed Interoperability (IO) and Information Assurance (IA) certification. It assures that products have been independently verified to be compliant with the requirements of the Defense Information Systems Network, which is mandatory in order to connect to the DISA network. DISA provides information technology and communication support to the U.S. President, Vice President, Secretary of Defense, military service and combatant commands, and connects to all branches of the military, as well as related services, agencies and coalition partners.

Common Criteria, an international standard for computer security certification, provides assurance that the process of specification, implementation and evaluation of a computer security product has been conducted in a rigorous and standard manner. Industries with high security requirements, such as healthcare and financial services, often value the third party validation of the Common Criteria Certification as part of their purchasing processes.

“With these certifications, NetScout has demonstrated its commitment to the U.S. Federal Government by providing a certified service assurance platform that enables Federal Agencies to have better situational awareness of network, application and service performance so that agencies can better support mission assurance initiatives and deliver a quality user experience,” said Steven Shalita, vice president, marketing at NetScout. “In addition, NetScout’s solutions are also current with respect to additional certifications including the Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) and the U.S. Army Certificate of Networthiness (CoN).”
