Computer Sciences Corporation Uses NETSCOUT's Solutions For In-Depth Network Monitoring

WESTFORD, Mass., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- NetScout Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTCT) today announced that Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC), a leading information technology integrator, has chosen to deploy NetScout's network performance management solution at select customer sites for in-depth network infrastructure analyses. CSC recently purchased a combination of NetScout's Multiport Fast Ethernet Probes and software to accurately profile their customers' network and communications needs in real-time. Based on this information, CSC can make more informed recommendations to clients, fine- tuning their network environment accordingly.

With the NetScout solution in place, CSC can generate on-line reports for customers that offer detailed information on the state of their network such as bandwidth consumption, network application flows, error rates and other performance metrics. CSC can isolate and resolve problem areas in the network such as identifying the cause of network slowdowns or finding the source of unresolved, bandwidth limiting broadcast storms. With the ability to fully evaluate and troubleshoot its customers network environment, CSC is able to model IT requirements that will withstand future pressures.

Other key service metrics evaluated by CSC and supported by NetScout Systems include:

    * Establishing deterministic traffic patterns through comprehensive
      analysis of on-site local area networks (LANs)
    * Detailing information for customers on how Intranet and Extranet traffic
      flows are coexisting with other, more time-sensitive business-related
      applications.
    * Recording historical data of traffic patterns at the application layer
      to efficiently resolve anomalies on the LAN.
