Key Components of nGenius Solution Begin to Roll Out and Will Be Sold Through Broad Channels Including Cisco Systems

WESTFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 31, 2000--NetScout(R) Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTCT) today announced the availability of the first two components of its nGenius Performance Management System: the nGenius Server(TM) and the nGenius Traffic Monitor.(TM) These products are part of NetScout's planned roll out for delivering end-to-end performance management solutions for e-business. They will be sold through all NetScout sales channels including direct, Cisco Systems and other resellers.

"NetScout products support our commitment to delivering comprehensive, end-to-end networking solutions for the enterprise, e-business and emerging markets," said John McCormack, division director, Cisco Systems, Inc. "Cisco and NetScout are currently working on including NetScout's nGenius Server and nGenius Traffic Monitor applications into its CiscoWorks2000 LAN and Routed WAN Management solutions. We are pleased with the joint technology development between our two companies and NetScout continues to be an important provider of solutions for a wide reach of Cisco Catalyst and Cisco IOS environments."

NetScout's nGenius Server is a highly scalable network management server that provides the foundation for all of NetScout's e-business performance management solutions. Collecting real-time, application flow data from NetScout's high performance probes, as well as from other industry-standard data sources, the server intelligently aggregates data from across the network or from user-specified segments.

The nGenius Traffic Monitor is a real-time, Web based performance monitoring and fault isolation tool. Its network troubleshooting features help managers identify and correct potential network problems and events early on, through user defined alarms and intuitive drill-downs. Unique to the nGenius Traffic Monitor is its ability to provide an integrated view of both real-time and historical network information. This information enables managers to track changes in traffic and quickly determine whether spikes are an anomaly or a trend and what applications and users are causing them.

RWE Energie AG

"nGenius is perfect for monitoring our heterogeneous network, from anywhere, anytime we want," says Gerald Buchholz, network engineer for RWE Energie AG, a leading European energy service provider. "Its high level graphs and reports help us analyze and identify network usage trends and ensure the optimum performance of our network."

The nGenius system was announced in May 2000 as an integral step in NetScout's strategy to deliver solutions that not only ease the e-business transition of its existing Fortune 500 enterprise customers, but also extend into growth areas such as business-to-business, business-to-consumer and service provider markets.
