WESTFORD, Mass., May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- NetScout Systems (Nasdaq: NTCT),
today unveiled nGenius Capacity Planner(TM) version 3.0, which helps IT
professionals leverage the value of their deployed network resources and
improve the effectiveness of future network investments. The nGenius Capacity
Planner v3.0 is distinguished by the visibility it provides into the
applications flows that drive network traffic up, beyond acceptable levels for
the infrastructure. This new information gives IT professionals greater
options during capacity planning by creating visibility into opportunities for
alternatives-such as situations warranting usage policies, or bandwidth
problems caused by unwieldy applications. The new version also features
customized, newspaper-style reports that are delivered via the Web.
The new nGenius Capacity Planner profiles and predicts application,
network and device traffic patterns, and delivers the results through a common
interface. It delivers the rich, applications-centric information generated
by NetScout's market leading probes, along with traditional information
gathered via the network and SNMP-manageable devices.
"The new version of nGenius Capacity Planner allows us to save money by
making faster and more informed decisions about reallocating and upgrading our
network capacity, whether it be for bandwidth or network devices," said Tom
Heim, senior network specialist for TDS TELECOM. "Not only can I tell if I
have high utilization on a given link, but I can also see why, since it shows
me which applications are running across that link. Another benefit is that I
have both application and device reporting in a single application."
"This is another step forward in the development of our integrated
performance management suite," said Michael Szabados, senior vice president of
product operations for NetScout Systems. "We have taken this step to ensure
continuity of superior performance information between all nGenius products.
This integration makes our real time and historical solutions that much more
meaningful for our customers. Continuity of data is a very tangible example
of the gains that can be derived from leaving multi-vendor point tools in
favor of an integrated solution."
New features of the Genius Capacity Planner v3.0 include:
-- Comprehensive, easy-to-read newspaper-style reports: Application,
network and device traffic patterns can be displayed in multiple levels of
granularity to tailor information according to specific readers. Top-level
reports show the most utilized network segments and further identify how
bandwidth is being used.
-- Easily and quickly create custom, newspaper-style reports: IT staff
can create customized reports on their own, unlike other products that require
professional services. The "NewsEditor" wizard leads users through five easy
steps to create custom Newspapers. Newspapers can be personalized to reflect
reader ownership.
-- nGenius NewsStand(TM) offers secure, Web-based distribution: The
nGenius NewsStand provides an effective architecture for distributing multiple
reports to a large number of readers via the Web. A key benefit of nGenius
NewsStand is its ability to reside near both local and remote readers, either
inside or outside a firewall. This enables accessibility of the reports to
all readers while preserving performance and security. Partitioned views of
Newspapers in secure Web sites shows readers only what they are supposed to
see.
