NETSCOUT Unveils nGenius Real-Time Monitor With VoIP and VPN Traffic Monitoring

WESTFORD, Mass., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- NetScout Systems (Nasdaq: NTCT) today unveiled the newest addition to its nGenius(TM) Performance Management suite-nGenius(TM) Real-Time Monitor(TM) version 1.2. Now including support for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Voice over Frame Relay (VoFR) and Virtual Private Networking (VPN), nGenius Real-Time Monitor introduces real- time performance management capabilities for converged voice, video and data networks -the foundation of Voice and IP telephony infrastructures.

nGenius Real-Time Monitor

The nGenius Real-Time Monitor gives IT managers a comprehensive set of tools to maintain Web and application performance in addition to troubleshooting network problems - all in real-time. The nGenius Real-Time Monitor continuously tracks voice, video and data traffic from the Web site to the back-office, allowing IT staff to detect and analyze traffic performance issues before they affect the end-user. The product also offers packet-level analysis for fast resolution of complex problems.

nGenius Real-Time Monitor relies on NetScout's application-aware probes to provide the critical information needed to instantly identify problems. Based on industry standards and designed specifically for monitoring network and application performance, NetScout probes deliver unmatched visibility into the network.

    nGenius Real-Time Monitor consists of four main components:

    -- Traffic Monitor - provides real-time fault isolation and performance
      monitoring for staying ahead of potential problems.  Traffic Monitor
      also offers new drill-down screens for RTP audio and video;
    -- Packet Analyzer - enables rapid packet capture and decoding for
      advanced troubleshooting;
    -- Performance Monitor - offers application and Web performance monitoring
      for optimal service, including:
       * Application Response Time (ART) MIB option - measures the response
         time of application conversations on the network
       * Content Response Time (CRT) MIB option - monitors and reports on Web
         site traffic and volume of traffic by URL, response time of content
         delivered to end-users, and HTTP status codes and error conditions.
    -- nGenius Server - a scalable and sharable server for fast, easy and
      secure system configuration.

In a separate announcement today, NetScout also unveiled a host of enhancements with upgrades for its probe line, including VoIP, VoFR and VPN data extensions that work directly with nGenius Real-Time Monitor version 1.2. Customers with MasterCare Service will automatically receive upgrades, in accordance to their service agreements.

Pricing and Availability

nGenius Real-Time Monitor Version 1.2 is available today for $15,000 per server.

nGenius Real-Time Monitor Plus Version 1.2, which includes Performance Monitor, is available today for $50,000 per server.
