NETSCOUT Extends High Speed Optical ATM Performance Management Solutions New nGenius Probes Offer Additional Visibility and Investment Protection for Growing WAN Traffic Environments

November 11, 2002

WESTFORD, Mass., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/-- NetScout Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTCT) today announced the availability of two new products that extend the nGenius(R) Performance Management System's visibility into high-speed optical ATM environments. First, the new user- configurable ATM OC-3c/OC-12c Probe eliminates the need to upgrade management components when network links move from OC-3c to the higher speed of OC-12c. Second, the new Dual Port ATM OC-3c Probe allows customers to economically monitor multiple OC-3c circuits via a single probe. The new offerings are further evidence of NetScout's CDM Technology(TM) initiative for reducing management complexity and lowering the total cost of ownership by providing customers with the means to leverage existing network management investments through periods of network growth.

Another industry first for NetScout, the user-configurable ATM OC-3c/OC- 12c Probe offers solid investment protection for enterprises anticipating growth in their ATM bandwidth requirements. By eliminating the need to purchase new monitoring hardware, customers can save on the total costs of upgrading to higher speed OC-12c links. The Dual Port ATM OC-3c Probe also provides cost advantage by allowing customers to economically monitor multiple ATM links. Further, NetScout's ATM/OC-3c and ATM/OC-12c solutions simplify deployments worldwide by virtue of their concurrent support for STM-1 and STM- 4 international optical standards.

According to IDC research, U.S. ATM services revenue reached $1.4 billion in 2001 and is expected to reach 20% CAGR by 2006. "NetScout has begun to deliver on the increased visibility and integration of performance data promised by its CDM strategy," said Paul Bugala, senior analyst, Network and Service Management for IDC. "An OC-3 or OC-12 link is a considerable investment for an enterprise. NetScout's ATM OC-3c/OC-12c Probe can make the most of that investment at a time when CIOs are balancing the need to do more with less and future-proof their networks."

"Our CDM initiative encompasses our entire nGenius product family," commented Michael Szabados, senior vice president of Product Operations. "We are focused on delivering capabilities and features that show clear advantages to our customers in solving cost and complexity issues. Today's announcement of solutions that address both current and future needs demonstrates that mission."
