Leading Manufacturer Says Visibility Is Key For Managing Internal and

Outsourced Data Networks As Major Infrastructure Project Gets Underway

WESTFORD, Mass., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NetScout Systems (Nasdaq: NTCT), a leading provider of enterprise-wide performance management solutions announced today that The Electrolux Group has chosen NetScout's nGenius(R) Performance Management System for core infrastructure performance management as part of a major IP migration project.

The Electrolux Group, which historically supported its Frame Relay and ATM networks with NetScout, chose the nGenius(R) Solution to assist its technical teams to both validate the IP migration plan and monitor the status of service levels in the outsourced portion of its data network. Electrolux is the world's largest manufacturer of domestic and professional appliances and equipment for the kitchen, cleaning and outdoor use. Electrolux global brands include Frigidaire, AEG, Zanussi and Flymo. With 82,000 employees, of whom a quarter directly attach to the IT infrastructure, Electrolux has a major commitment to technology at its 160 global sites.

Laurent de Haas, head of Global IT Infrastructures at The Electrolux Group explains, "As an organization, we are rapidly transitioning to an IP network and we need to maintain visibility across both our internal and outsourced network. NetScout offers us this, with a level of detail that would be almost impossible from traditional framework products."

As part of transitioning from Frame Relay/ATM to an IP-based architecture, Electrolux is using the nGenius Solution as both a planning aid and to monitor and react to problems arising from application traffic, thus ensuring that mission critical systems are maintained at optimum performance during the 18- month transition period and beyond. nGenius(R) Probes are being installed at 17 core data centers across Europe for monitoring both WAN and LAN traffic.

"We have embraced the advantages that outsourced data networks offer our business, but we still need to maintain a level of awareness and control over these resources," added de Haas. "The nGenius Solution is very good at generating the type of management reports we need. It pinpoints both individual issues and wider trends across internal and outsourced areas of the network." Furthered de Haas, "Our experience working with NetScout has also been very positive. They have been easy to work with, responsive and flexible."

NetScout's recently announced nGenius(R) Performance Manager 2.0 is the first solution in the market to unify the information, features and functions of multiple performance management disciplines within a single product. It delivers network and application monitoring, capacity planning and reporting, troubleshooting, fault prevention and service level management using enterprise-wide information that has been gathered and stored via NetScout's patent-pending CDM(TM) Technology.

Jim Frey, vice president of marketing for NetScout commented, "In this time of transition for many businesses, the nGenius Solution offers higher business value through multiple benefits from a single tool. It transcends both in-house and externally managed assets to help IT managers maintain visibility of business critical applications and contain IT operational costs across the board. We look forward to helping Electrolux meet its strategic IT goals and to a long-term relationship with this market leader."
