Management Complexity Solved as Multiple Disciplines Converge Under One Solution; New Product Releases Deliver on CDM Promise

WESTFORD, Mass., July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NetScout Systems (Nasdaq: NTCT) today announced the completed delivery of its CDM(TM) Architecture in its nGenius(R) Performance Management System, the industry's first next-generation solution that unifies and elevates best practices in managing enterprise-wide network and application performance. The solution includes an enhanced, unified performance management application, nGenius(R) Performance Manager 2.0 and significantly expanded data collection and analysis capabilities for the entire family of nGenius(R) Probes. In addition, the company unveiled nGenius(R) Express, a full-featured, rapidly deployable solution that will streamline the acquisition of NetScout's proactive technology for new customers and allow NetScout channel partners to more efficiently sell the nGenius solution. All of the products in today's announcement are based on the company's patent-pending CDM Architecture, first announced one year ago.

Working with premier companies across major industry and government segments worldwide, NetScout has seen the need for performance management as well-established, yet the benefits not well-realized. As organizations have attempted to manage the performance of their complex, multi-technology IT environments, they have been forced into narrow and splintered approaches that produce significant cost, deployment and scalability problems. Seeking to solve these challenges for its customers, NetScout initiated its CDM-based strategy to unify network and application performance management across the enterprise. The new nGenius solution delivers enterprise-wide, top-down, information-rich perspectives on the performance of business-critical networked applications from a single, unified system. The new solution brings together the information, features and functions necessary to address multiple network and application performance management disciplines within a single product.

NetScout is completing its CDM Architecture with the release of new and enhanced products across the full nGenius system:

    * nGenius Performance Manager 2.0 - now eliminates management complexity
by unifying the information, features and functions of multiple
performance management disciplines within a single product. It delivers
seamlessly integrated network and application monitoring, capacity
planning and reporting, troubleshooting, fault prevention and service-
level management using enterprise-wide, unified information that has
been gathered and stored via NetScout's patent-pending CDM(TM)
Architecture. Expanded data collection includes new types of application
and protocol support, application flow records from industry-leading
routers and switches and basic traffic statistics from SNMP-enabled
      infrastructure elements.

    * nGenius Probe Firmware 6.0 - the industry's most advanced technology for
monitoring, collecting and analyzing performance data across the
enterprise, now includes a host of new features with support for
multiple new applications and protocols, traffic analysis by network QoS
level, integrated passive and active response time data collection,
innovative evidentiary threshold alarms, and CDM Probe Adaptors for
gathering and analyzing flow records such as sFlow and NetFlow from
      industry-leading switches and routers.

    * nGenius Express - now IT organizations seeking to advance their
management practices from reactive to proactive can obtain the full
power of the nGenius solution in a rapidly-deployable package designed
for new customers. The solution accelerates customers' time-to-value by
offering, in one package, a full-featured version of nGenius Performance
Manager 2.0 pre-installed on an appliance, an nGenius Probe of the
customer's choice and a full year of maintenance coverage. The offering
also includes on-site configuration and training services. It will also
benefit NetScout channel partners by simplifying the introduction and
sale of NetScout technology to customers in the U.S. and overseas.

"NetScout is again helping us optimize our infrastructure better by making more information directly available for our decisions," said Jake Star, vice president of technical services for Mohegan Sun. "In the past, many tasks required multiple tools to get the right kinds of data. Using the nGenius solution, all of these tools are delivered in a single product. We can collect, organize and save the response time and utilization metrics for our applications into a live 'workspace' that presents everything in the same screen. In addition, it does the work of putting these various sources of data into a consistent context for decision-making. With NetScout, we are protected from acquiring excessive tools and getting lost in the data. By going after our IT problems instead of our budget, NetScout has earned its place as one of our key IT vendors."

"Enterprises are increasingly defining their business processes and then building IT services to support them," said Stephen Elliot, senior analyst, network management for IDC. "To manage services in a business context, performance management technologies must deliver granular information that exposes the performance and costs of supporting applications and end users throughout the entire network. NetScout is building a platform for delivering this type of granularity that helps increase IT satisfaction by identifying and solving problems at every stage of IT service delivery, before they cause revenue loss."

"NetScout has spent the last several years listening closely to our customers' needs and working diligently to meet and exceed them," said Michael Szabados, senior vice president of product operations for NetScout. "This announcement not only represents the culmination of these efforts, it also represents a significant step forward in the evolution of proactive performance management solutions in the network management industry."
