NetScout Products Provide Detailed Insight into the Performance Needs of High
End Applications Deployed in a Converged Environment
WESTFORD, Mass., May 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NetScout Systems, Inc.
(Nasdaq: NTCT), a leading provider of network and application performance
management solutions, today announced that Chunghwa Telecom Research
Institute, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chunghwa Telecom, has deployed
NetScout's nGenius(R) Performance Management System to optimize the
performance of the service provider's new multimedia-on-demand (MOD) services.
The Institute will use the nGenius Solution to perform pre- and post-
deployment analyses of the network resources used in delivering the company's
MOD applications, which enable movies, TV programs and other high-end services
for Chunghwa Telecom's subscribers.
Chunghwa Telecom is the largest telecommunication operator in Taiwan, with
more than 20 million subscribers. The company offers a wide range of fixed
line, mobile, Internet and data services to residential and business
customers. New services such as MOD are continually being added to satisfy
consumers' desires for high-end, media-rich offerings. The bandwidth-
intensive nature of these services increases the need to keep the network
optimally tuned and capable of supporting a quality customer experience.
The Institute uses the nGenius Solution to analyze network and application
resource requirements both before and after deployment. Using the solution's
higher-level views of the network and applications, the Institute can analyze
the architectural efficiency of Chunghwa Telecom's communications networks and
study the patterns and effects of user behaviors on available resources. By
choosing the nGenius Solution, Chunghwa Telecom Research Institute has a
single tool able to proactively monitor network and application performance
while also providing the ability to rapidly troubleshoot problems.
"We urgently needed a solution that could support comprehensive analysis
of both network and application performance," said Dr. Yu-Huang Chu, project
manager of Broadband Transport & Access Technical Lab at Chunghwa Telecom
Research Institute. "NetScout's nGenius Solution will help us manage and meet
the performance and growth of our multimedia-on-demand services, which are an
important part of our service offerings. We are particularly impressed with
the nGenius Solution's seamless integration of real-time monitoring,
troubleshooting, and historical analysis. With NetScout tools, we are able to
provide our network operation staff with customizable reports and make fact-
based recommendations to optimize network resources and enhance end-user
experience."
"The nGenius Solution has superior features for analyzing and tracking
converged traffic performance and, in particular, time-sensitive applications
such as multi-media," said Jim Frey, vice president of marketing at NetScout
Systems. "The live performance data provided by NetScout's nGenius Solution
supports comprehensive analysis and trending of application bandwidth
requirements as well as full audits of network efficiency."
