NETSCOUT Completes Largest-Ever Annual User Conference

Engineering and Customer-led Sessions Educate Attendees on Performance Troubleshooting, Proactive Performance Management, and Integrating NetFlow Technologies with the nGenius Solution

WESTFORD, Mass., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NetScout Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTCT), a leading provider of network and application performance management solutions, today announced the highest attendance ever at the NetScout User Forum conference, which took place last week in Cambridge, Mass.

NetScout's network engineering, operations and IT management users from enterprise and service provider businesses, civilian government and defense agencies converged at the 2005 conference for education by their peers and NetScout's top engineering talent. During the conference, user forum members from around the world shared best practices and met with NetScout executives and engineers to discuss the most pressing trends impacting the performance of their business-critical applications and networks.

One of the dominant exchanges of the conference centered on challenges facing IT organizations in early recognition of application and network performance problems and the need to shorten mean-time-to-repair while working across organizational boundaries. In fact, an on-site survey revealed that the vast majority of attending companies still rely on end-user calls as the first sign of application performance problems. Other hot topics of discussion included ITIL processes and quality programs, and Web services.

Additional Conference Highlights

Anil Singhal, president and CEO of NetScout presented the evolution of the company's High Definition Performance Management (HDPM) strategy in relation to the company's expanding product lines and future industry trends.

Educational sessions led by NetScout engineering and experienced customers included techniques to take advantage of the nGenius Performance Management Solution's integration with HP Openview, expand network monitoring capabilities with NetScout's NetFlow collection, and exploit the nGenius Flow Recorder's extended trace recording and expert analysis capabilities.

NetScout's training and customer support organizations led hands-on lab training sessions and best-practices workshops.

Keynote addresses by Daniel Burrus, notable technology futurist, and Dr. Jim Metzler, industry analyst and Network World columnist. Burrus delivered entertaining and practical tips for attendees to improve visibility into the near-future and embrace useful technologies for automation. Dr. Metzler spoke on the growing and future impact of Web services on enterprise networks.
