for its NetScout User Forum conference, held last week.
NetScout's network engineering, operations and IT management users
from enterprises, service providers and, government agencies converged
at the 2006 conference to gain insight from their peers and NetScout's
top engineering talent. During the conference, user forum members from
around the world shared best practices and met with NetScout
executives and engineers to discuss the most pressing trends impacting
the performance of their business-critical applications and networks.
The theme of the conference, "Conquering the Chaos: Real
Performance in a Virtual World," centered on the complex challenges
which the many existing and emerging forms of virtualization utilized
in today's application delivery infrastructures impose on corporate,
service provider and government networks. Session formats included
hands-on labs, demos, lectures, panels and roundtable discussions.
Additional Conference Highlights
- Michael Szabados, NetScout's senior vice president of product
operations, presented the kick-off keynote on "Application
Fabric Performance Management," detailing NetScout's solution
architecture and strategy for reducing MTTR (mean time to
repair) for network-based business services and applications
in the face of the increasing operational chaos driven by
virtualization.
- A second keynote was delivered by Jean-Pierre Garbani, vice
president of Computing Infrastructures and Security at
Forrester Research, Inc. Garbani addressed "IT Operations: The
Next Five Years," in which he examined trends in IT
infrastructures, applications, and organizations, and
identified how operations management products, technologies
and processes must evolve in order to achieve and maintain a
strategic role within the organizations they serve.
- More than 40 educational sessions were offered by NetScout
experts and experienced nGenius System users to look in depth
at a wide range of topics, including the realities and
challenges of application monitoring within n-tier/SOA, the
automated problem detection capabilities of nGenius Analytics,
the powerful combination of flow and packet recording
functionality within the recently introduced nGenius
Application Fabric Monitor, best practices for embracing
change, managing the performance of MPLS in converged
networks, troubleshooting VoIP deployments, and many more.

hands-on lab training sessions and best-practices workshops.
