WESTFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2007--NetScout
Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTCT), the industry pace-setter for advanced
network and service assurance solutions, announced today that its
nGenius(R) Performance Management System was selected by the editors
of Billing World and OSS Today Magazine as a finalist for the 2007
Excellence Awards, in the Best New Product category. The awards
recognize the best vendors in the billing and operations support
system segments of the telecommunications industry.
Based on technology developed and deployed to monitor the world's
largest private IP networks, the nGenius System's proven IP
performance management technology has been adapted to address the
needs of service providers to protect the quality of their customers'
experience with IP-based services. Traditionally, service providers
have turned to performance management tools that reactively track
individual calls or transactions end-to-end using signalling
information for understanding customer experience. With the advent of
IP services as the primary growth driver in the industry today, there
is both an opportunity and a requirement for proactive performance
monitoring and rapid problem resolution at the service delivery level,
rather than at the call level. The nGenius System addresses this new
requirement by integrating three critical data sets - real-time KPIs
(key performance indicators) for proactively identifying problems,
customer-by-customer flow data for highly efficient top-down
troubleshooting, and detailed packet sequences for deep forensic
analysis.
"For service providers, assuring customer experience is a top
priority. The key ingredient to making the leap from traditional
service assurance to customer awareness is to always have the
appropriate visibility into the services as they are delivered, the
customers consuming those services, and the network infrastructure
that's delivering them," said Jim Frey, NetScout's Vice President of
Marketing. "NetScout's history includes leading the development of
standards for monitoring the performance of IP-based applications, and
we are now applying that expertise to solving the major challenges
providers face in assuring the quality of converged triple- and
quad-play services."
Before selecting the finalists, Billing World and OSS Today
Magazine editors thoroughly evaluated all of the nominations that were
submitted and completed extensive research into the companies that
were considered.
"The competition was fierce as usual, so being selected as a
finalist is truly a recognition of the excellence a company is
bringing to the OSS/BSS sector and its customers. It is good to see so
many companies succeeding and finding innovative ways to help carriers
and operators achieve their goals," said Edward Finegold,
Editor-in-Chief of Billing World and OSS Today Magazine, in announcing
the finalists.
The list of finalists can be seen at

will be announced at Billing and OSS World 2007 in Chicago, IL at the
end of April.
