Film “Lo and Behold: Reveries of the Connected World” to premiere at
the storied Sundance Film Festival 2016
WESTFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 2016--
NETSCOUT SYSTEMS, INC. (NASDAQ: NTCT), a market leader in service
assurance and cybersecurity solutions, today announced that NETSCOUT has
partnered with legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog to explore the promise
and perils of the connected world, where everything will eventually be
impacted by connectivity, resulting in a 90-minute feature film called
“Lo and Behold, Reveries of the Connected World,” which premieres at the
2016 Sundance Film Festival, in Park City, Utah, January 23, 2016. The
film explores those who first built the connected world, from hackers to
astrophysicists, and the fragility of this connection and our dependency
on it.
Through Herzog’s storytelling and unique lens, the film highlights
luminaries at the forefront of technology; exploring the unequalled
perspectives of people like PayPal and Tesla co-founder Elon Musk,
roboticist Sebastian Thrun, and UCLA professor and co-creator of ARPANET
(the precursor to the Internet) Leonard Kleinrock, among others. In a
fully digitized world, always being connected is indispensable but
cannot be taken for granted amid a myriad of man-made and technology
challenges. The people who develop and maintain the systems take on more
important roles that are not readily apparent in today’s connected
world. Whether in IT departments or at communications service providers,
professionals leveraging and protecting this most precious asset have
become our most powerful allies. NETSCOUT is dedicated to helping these Guardians
of the Connected World with the right technology solutions to
innovate and fulfill their responsibility.
Our world is now connected and communicating at light speed. “In order
for a company to thrive, you must have uninterrupted communication –
‘There is No Off’,” said Anil Singhal, co-founder, president and chief
executive officer of NETSCOUT. “This film is a wakeup call to the world
on how incredibly powerful, yet fragile, connectivity is, and Werner has
done an extraordinary job bringing the message to life.” Singhal
believes NETSCOUT is uniquely equipped to help businesses evolve and
unlock opportunities to innovate by delivering virtually constant and
ubiquitous visibility in the connected world – a prime reason the film
was created.
“What started out as interviewing a handful of industry leaders about
the state of connectivity, quickly turned into a cornucopia of footage
that was destined to become something much bigger,” said Herzog. “The
project took a life of its own, and size, and substance, and everything
pointed to the direction of a feature length documentary.” Herzog said
he knew we “were on the right track to making a powerful and
extraordinary film.” He added that “this partnership with NETSCOUT has
the potential to heighten our understanding of the connected world and
its impact on our future.”
