2016 and will release in the UK on October 28, 2016
WESTFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 8, 2016--
NETSCOUT
SYSTEMS, INC. (NASDAQ:NTCT), a leading provider of business
assurance – a powerful combination of service assurance, cybersecurity,
and business intelligence solutions – today announced the nationwide
U.S. theatrical release of “Lo and Behold: Reveries of the Connected
World” on August 19, 2016 with an overseas debut starting with a
United Kingdom premiere on October 13 in London and in-country release
on October 28, 2016. Distributed by Magnolia Pictures, this 90-minute
documentary resulted from collaboration between NETSCOUT and legendary
filmmaker Werner Herzog.
“In today’s fully digitized world with Internet on- and off-ramps, being
connected and staying connected with uninterrupted communication is an
absolute necessity, and yet, leaves us vulnerable due to the fragility
of our connectivity,” said Anil Singhal, co-founder, president and chief
executive officer of NETSCOUT. “Because of the complexity of the
technology, the professionals who develop and maintain these systems are
becoming increasingly important in keeping us connected. They are quite
literally the Guardians
of the Connected World, a name we gave to the broad,
multi-dimensional, leadership initiative we announced more than a year
ago. NETSCOUT is committed to helping businesses evolve and unlock
opportunities to innovate by delivering virtually constant and
ubiquitous visibility in the connected world.”
The film project was originally conceived as a series of short online
videos demonstrating how much the world has come to depend on the
Internet and the potential for widespread disruptions to society should
severe interruptions to this connectivity occur. Seeing the possibility
for a broader story, Herzog and NETSCOUT decided to turn the project
into a feature-length documentary.
NETSCOUT played a key role in developing the story of the film as well
as in its production. Lo and Behold explores those who first
built the connected world, from hackers to astrophysicists, and the
fragility of this connection and our dependency on it. Told through
Herzog’s unique perspective, the film highlights luminaries at the
forefront of technology; exploring the unequalled viewpoints of people
like PayPal and Tesla co-founder Elon Musk, roboticist Sebastian Thrun,
and UCLA professor and co-creator of ARPANET (the precursor to the
Internet) Leonard Kleinrock, among others.
“NETSCOUT introduced me to a project and a topic that was much larger
than a handful of public service announcements,” said Werner Herzog. The
future of the Connected World and its impact on Humanity is an
extraordinary topic for all of mankind. I am thankful to NETSCOUT for
starting this conversation and as I have said to Anil Singhal, ‘Our work
is not yet done.’”
This partnership between NETSCOUT and Werner Herzog has the potential to
heighten our understanding of the connected world and its impact on our
future as the narrative unfolds in this film. “Lo and Behold,
Reveries of the Connected World” premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film
Festival, in Park City, Utah on January 23, 2016.
